Fire warden (Brandschutzwarte) in accordance with TRVB 117 O and 119 O
The training (Module 1 - one day) complies with the specifications of the authorities and the requirements of property insurance companies and is confirmed with a personalised fire protection pass from the Federal Fire Brigade Association after passing the examination.
Fire wardens are appointed to support the fire safety officer and work within certain local or functional areas of the company.
Fire wardens can be deployed for first and extended extinguishing assistance, in company fire safety inspections and as evacuation assistants.
If fire wardens take part in the intervention service for fire alarm systems (Interventionsdienst), they must also attend the fire protection technology seminar "Fire alarm systems".
Fire safety officer (Brandschutzbeauftragte) in accordance with TRVB 117 O and 119 O
The training (Module 2, two days) complies with the regulations of the authorities and the requirements of property insurance companies and is confirmed with a personalised fire protection pass from the Federal Fire Brigade Association after passing the examination.
Prior completion of Module 1 (Brandschutzwarte) is mandatory for participation in the course.
Fire safety officers are persons of legal age with sufficient technical understanding and training in accordance with TRVB 117 O who fulfil the tasks of operational fire safety. As long as there are no legal or official regulations to the contrary, it is generally up to the company itself to decide whether to appoint an internal or external fire safety officer. In any case, a natural person who has sufficient local, operational and hazard knowledge for the respective company must be named as the fire safety officer. (Definition in accordance with TRVB 119 O)
The fire safety officer and the deputy fire safety officer must have successfully completed training in accordance with TRVB 117 O (operational fire protection - training, modules 1 and 2). The appointed person must be familiar with the particularities of the company.
If technical fire protection equipment or special hazards are present, participation in corresponding seminars within 2 years is required (extended basic training in accordance with TRVB 117 O such as: e.g. fire alarm systems, smoke and heat extraction systems, pressurised ventilation systems, sprinkler systems and gas extinguishing systems).
Note: In this regard, reference is also made to regulations on the training of fire safety officers and fire safety wardens, e.g. in § 43 of the Workplace Ordinance (Arbeitsstättenverordnung - AStV).
The fire safety officer and, if available, the deputy fire safety officer must keep up to date with the latest fire safety knowledge through regular further training, for which the employer must provide them with sufficient resources.
After completing the extended basic training (see above), further training seminars must be attended at least every 5 years.
Further training seminars include use-related seminars or general further training seminars or “jours fixes” offered by a recognised training organisation, each lasting at least 360 minutes.
Note: Only Module 1 (BSW) and Module 2 (BSB) are completed with a written examination. For all other courses, seminars or further training programmes, attendance is compulsory.
